The research Institute became one of the first in Russia to begin using this promising armor material. The use of UHMWPE in bulletproof vests instead of traditional steel armor elements allowed to reduce the weight of bulletproof vests by 30-40%. Today, the Research Institute of Steel uses this material both in the form of a flexible fleet and in the form of pressed panels, the production of which is established on the territory of the institute.
