The Research Institute of Steel was one of the first in Russia to develop and implement a new technology for pressing fabric polymer helmets using a film binder. In 2012, the institute created a press site for the production of helmets, which allows for the production of batches of helmets up to 30-40 thousand pieces per year.
In 2014, a new section for pressing composite panels based on aramid fabrics and UHMWPE flat was created at the Research Institute of Steel. These panels are used in personal protective equipment and in the protective structures of VIVT, as well as as substrates for composite structures based on ceramics. Today, this site is loaded with the manufacture of panels for promising military equipment.
