The first domestic aramid material for ballistic protection of the TSVM-J brand was created in 1980 by the joint efforts of the Research Institute of Steel, NIIHV and the Ministry of Defense of the USSR almost simultaneously with the American aramid "Kevlar" and had the same ballistic characteristics as its foreign counterpart. Today, there are several dozen different brands of aramid ballistic fabrics on the market, differing in thickness, weaving, microfilament, and price. The Research Institute of Steel uses the optimal combination of different fabrics in its products, achieving maximum results at a minimum price.
